The importance of relationship-building and donor-thanking

You must be willing to invest actual money into a fundraising effort, into a relationship-building effort, and into a donor-thanking effort. Chosen People Ministries has been impressive in this regard. At one time, their major donor representative struck out on a world tour with only one goal: to thank every major donor face-to-face for his support of the ministry. Many ministries have found that thanked donors and speedily thanked donors give more generously than unthanked donors or belatedly thanked donors. A personalized thank-you note promptly mailed with a receipt for a donation can generate another gift from the donor who has just given! Some organizations have found that as much as 65% of their revenue can flow from such a “receipt package”!
