It’s not enough to keep records; you’ve got to share the records, report the results. Donors who are giving strategically, in a fashion that is obedient to God — donors trying to be wise stewards — want timely and accurate reporting. They expect this on their financial investments, and they should. To get timely, accurate reporting on the results of their investments makes logical sense to them. Yes, they’re giving to God; and yes, once they turn it over, it’s in His hands. But if they’re going to continue to partner with you, and be a part of the ministry you serve, there must be accurate reporting. Doing this well leads naturally to the phenomenon of donors enthusiastically stepping up to give in support of subsequent projects and programs.
