A basic outline follows…

Matthew 5:13 (NIV84) “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.”

Salt has VALUE

Context Matters!  Capernaum before Columbia… First Century before 21st Century

Salt SEASONS

Colossians 4:6 (NIV84) “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”

Salt PREVENTS CORRUPTION

Salt CULTIVATES THIRST

Psalm 42:1–2 (NIV84) “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?”

Jeremiah 2:13 (NIV84) “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.”

John 7:37 (NIV84) “…Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.”

Salt HEALS

Ecclesiastes 12:11 (NIV84) “The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails—given by one Shepherd.”

You are a flavorful, preservative and healer – living in the world in a way that provokes curiosity regarding your peace and joy.
